Springtime has brought with it the most delicious floral scents, especially in the early morning with a light breeze. Perfectly fragrant.
However, NOT perfectly fragrant, THAT SMELL I’m talking about is FRAGRANCE. Synthetic fragrance.
Any time you see FRAGRANCE written on your bottle of sunscreen, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, perfume, body wash, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, make-up, scented candles, air freshens, toilet bowl cleaners or what-have-you, you are applying multiple synthetic chemicals – toxins – to your body, clothes, your indoor air and cars.
With approximately 3,100 ‘secret’ chemical ingredients to choose from, Environmental Working Group tests show an average of 14 secret synthetic chemicals per FRAGRANCE.
With the average woman applying 126 different synthetic chemicals before she leaves home in the morning, and men using over 80 synthetic chemicals, there is increasing concern about the multiple, daily, low dose effect of these chemical mixtures on our health.
Many of these synthetic chemicals are known endocrine disruptors. Related to increases in cancer and reproductive health concerns, endocrine disruptors affect the development of the body’s vital organs and hormonal systems. Infants, children and developing fetuses are most vulnerable to exposures. A child’s exposure today can alter their future health and the health of their children and grandchildren.
To Help You Choose Wisely – HERE is WHAT YOU CAN DO!
Download the FREE Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep application for your Smart Phone. Once downloaded, use it to scan the barcodes of your personal care products to find out how safe, or how toxic they are. Very informative! You will find that FRAGRANCE is only one category of toxins in our personal care products. You will also be able to find the safest products to use for you and your family.
